Positive
Feedback
The quality of our
programs comes largely from careful development of scripts, and
extensive ongoing training of the presenters. However we cannot
maintain adequate supervision of our many presenters without honest
feedback.
Thus we are very keen
to have as many teachers as possible fill out and return the
feedback forms which we provide to every school (and which you can
print directly from our INFO TO PRINT page).
Here are a few of the
comments we have gathered from those forms across the
years….
"Just Wonderful."
Anne Dean – Kingswood College 2006
"Your company has a great name... presentations always
excellent. Even teachers who watch it every year get new ideas
every time"
Mary-Anne Marshall – Salesian College 2008
"A most enjoyable and worthwhile morning."
Elizabeth Mulcahy – Scotch College 1993
"
Every year it just gets better and better!"
Mark Johnstone – Scotch College 2005
"I just wanted to give you a taste of the very positive feedback
we have had from both staff and students….
We didn’t receive one negative response from any of the
kids…
they enjoyed all the sessions, but the Tournament was the
overwhelming favourite… A number of staff also commented on how
much they learnt and how wonderful it was to have the knowledge and
experience in the school.
One especially impressive thing was the group that I went with…
didn’t have to be addressed for behaviour at all, which is such a
credit to the presenter."
Helen Duncan – Wantirna College – 2005
"Happy to recommend Medieval Education to schools… Presenters
are first rate, experienced and skilled
teachers."
Mark Hill
- Early Arts Guild 2004
"Thank you so much.. the girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves and
learnt a great deal in the process.
Your staff were brilliant as usual and I can’t praise them highly
enough.
the photographs of the girls involved in various activities are
already replacing the images of favourite pop stars on their
folders!!
This is a huge compliment to your organization…"
Derith Lancashire – Mentone Girls’ Grammar – 2005
"You really helped to bring the day to life.
Not only did the girls have fun but they learned a great deal
also."
Oriana Moulton - Camberwell Anglican Girls Grammar 2001
"Students got a lot out of the morning and your hands-on
material will no doubt stay in their minds for a long time – your
activities certainly complimented our own study of the
period."
R. A. Webster – Glen Waverley Secondary College 2004
Negative
Feedback
School feedback forms
are carefully monitored, and every effort is made to bring
sub-standard presentations up to scratch.
We do not get much
negative feedback (less than 1% from hundreds of schools over many
years), but as such they are samples of the most valuable feedback
we get.
If it becomes clear
that a presenter is unwilling or incapable of following the set
scripts, or unable to engage the students attention effectively,
then that presenter is let go.
Indeed one of our
biggest challenges is NOT getting adequate feedback from schools
where one or more presenters were unsatisfactory. It is frustrating
whenever problem presentations go on for weeks because we are not
getting enough feedback on what needs fixing!
We know there must be
other schools who had something go wrong on their days, or a
presenter who was not good enough: because they later try other
companies. (Though half of them return the following year, having
found that no one else has our size or depth.) But we can't
fix problems unless schools co-operate with feedback.
The following feedback
came from schools which had found something about the day, or the
presenter, sub standard. We are extremely grateful to
these schools for their efforts to help us improve our
offerings.
"Following your
successful visit… I enclose our
evaluation sheet…a few areas we would like addressed next year…
more interaction… more group activities… I look forward to hearing
your reactions to these collections of comments and will be in
touch in June/July to organise next year’s program" Niranjan Casinader –
Loyola 2005 (feedback 2006 excellent)
"Although we were
happy with the activities… we wish to express our concern… about
the approach taken by one of the members of the group… Overall we
felt it was a terrific day but we felt it was in your interest to
be aware of this specific concern." Judy Crowe – Melbourne
Girls College 2003
"…thank you and
your presenters for providing an enjoyable learning experience… we
are interested in making another booking for next year however,
before actually doing so I would like to make some comments about
your recent presentation and then consider your
responses. My comments..
are offered in the spirit of positive criticism and as the sort of
honest feedback that is useful to you in maintaining a good quality
product…
(They booked again next
year - see their 2004 quote in the Positive Feedback section
above!.)"
Rod Webster – Glen
Waverley Secondary College 2003
"I felt that this program was much better than last
year….
the students were more involved and interested…
I was particularly pleased to see those non-academic students and
those with special needs (an autistic boy) actively
engaged."
J Heim – Viewbank College 2002
"Generally
excellent as usual... but some teachers commented that one
presenter was very hard on the students... I have seen him present
far more causally... humorously... in the past..."
(This was the team
leaders bad choice, as the presenter had a family member
rushed to surgery mid morning but felt he could handle the last
four session. We should have organised to replace him at recess
regardless. Balwyn has booked again for 2007 and 2008) Kim
Cornell - Balwyn High 2006.
Policy on Unhappy
Clients
Fortunately we have few
unhappy clients. In fact less than 0.3%
over the years – which is truly astonishing for an organisation as
big as ours.
However we have found
we cannot guarantee having enough of our presenters properly
trained to cover all the wide variety of topics at more than one or
two schools per day.
We also
occasionally experience problems during the mid year
‘illness’ season. There have been times when under-trained
presenters have had to cover topics for presenters who have had
last minute illnesses. (We are sure that most
schools are familiar with this problem amongst their own teaching
staff).
Our policy is that if
WE are not happy with the standard of the educational
experience that the students receive,
then we offer the school a discount, or some other compensation
(sometimes a free presentation for their school open days for
instance).
We do this both as a
genuine apology to the schools concerned, and because we believe
that this sort of approach will motivate us towards always offering
our very best.
