This is a
class role play and trading game topic built around an Interactive
White-Board. (We can bring our own if necessary.)
Renaissance
studies are usually offered as an option for senior students, or as
and elective for one or two classes at middle school level.
As such this presentation is usually a single person
presentation to a small group over one, two, three or even four
periods. It is only rarely included as part of one of our
medieval incursion day programs, but can be combined with a
Revolutions or Gender Studies or Different Cultures topic to make a
day for level 9-12 students.
In it's
simplest form this presentation compares three generations across
the divide between the Medieval and Modern worlds. Their
clothes, buildings, art, weapons, armour, politics, travel, and
trade.
The
technological and social change from this period is a fascinating
story, and the role plays and props are very
informative.
If we have
more time, we can include more active involvement - renaissance
dancing (with reference to social life marriage and race), and even
the Tournament as a middle class sport for wealthy burghers (with
active participation, as in our medieval version).
