These topics
have been designed at the request of various schools, who have
pointed out that there is no context between level 8 Medieval
History, and level 9 Australian History. (Or indeed for level 9
English texts like 'To Kill a Mockingbird'.)
What they want
is an explanation of the Renaissance and Enlightenment that
explains our cultural development, along with an analysis of trade
routes and imperialism which can help explain why Australia was
considered terra nullis, and found desirable for
colonisation. (And also put into context US slavery and
European relations with Africa and Asia).
We have
developed several options for these sessions, built around
Interactive Whiteboards, video clips, props, role plays and
discussion. However we find that most schools prefer to combine
this topic with one of our other early modern topics - Renaissance,
Revolutions - or more general topics - A Woman's Place, Japan,
Muslim Culture, etc.
There is also
considerable variety in what particular issues schools need us to
focus on.
So please
contact us to tailor a topic layout to suit your needs.
