Many
teachers are delighted to run their own activities.
Many schools ask their
P.E. department to handle archery or games, while many other
teachers have their own hobbies and love to run sessions on maypole
dancing, heraldry, craft, or medieval cooking.
Talk to your SOSE team
and other staff about how much you can do in-house to reduce the
overall cost. (It is great to
see some Vice Principles firing up the spit roast when we arrive in
the morning!)
A Word About
Food
Before Victorian food
laws became too restrictive, we used to do whole days at country
schools where the staff and students would prepare food and
entertainment as part of the activities. Then in the
evening the parents would be feasted and entertained by their
children.
New rules make it
impossible for us to offer food preparation as part of our
activities. If you desire
this sort of thing, talk to your senior Home Economics
Students. Also see our
RUN YOUR OWN FEAST section.
If you would like advice or quotes, please phone, e-mail or fax
us. |
