Hands on training... called
us up to do it... showed us where to find it... we were all at
different stages of development... Doncaster Secondary College,
2009
I was speaking with a
teacher who attended the [Interactive White-board] training
yesterday and she said it was "fantastic, really practical...
grounded in educational theory...." She is speaking this afternoon
with the Director of IT to say how good it was and to see if more
sessions can be arranged. Mercy College,
2008.
I was very happy with the
training because I think Nigel... developed an excellent focus on
using the IWB technology prudently. As I said in my survey, the KIS
technique is sensible because it shows beginners that it is
accessible from the start and you can begin slowly and increase
expertise with practice. The IWB session I attended at VATE last
year was good too but I was embarassed by the expertise of other
teachers around me and swamped with the amount of 'stuff'' the
presenters gave in their honest and very enthusiatic attempt to
give us all we needed. . Corio Bay Senior Secondary,
2009.
Medieval Education
has been approached by Training Aspirations (a specialist in
adult training programs in Australia and New Zealand): to design
good simple Professional Development sessions for this new
technology.
Click here for a short paper
presented at the History Teachers Association National Conference
2009 called 'Interactive Whiteboards for
Technophobes')
Research revealed that many of
the schools which have already installed Interactive Whiteboards,
had found out that most of the available training is very 'click
and point' tech speak, rather than carefully crafted presentations
on good use of new pedagogical tools.
At Medieval Education we not
only have backgrounds in education faculty and other adult
education, we also specialise in the use of multi-sensory and
interactive education.
Through our association with
SecureMon (a national leader in ITC technology
supply/installation/maintenance - if you have been in a Telstra
shop you have seen their work): we can also get you access to
unbiased quotes on a much wider range of technological solutions
than most sales people are ready to discuss. (We chose SecureMon
because they are a national company who will tailor quotes for your
needs not theirs, and guarantee the results for three
years.)
Between the three companies we
can offer a one stop shop. Not just PD and ongoing
support: but also unbiased information on all the available
systems, and competitive quotes on purchase, installation,
integration, and ongoing maintenance. And don't forget security
camera's to safeguard your expensive new toys. SecureMon can
do those too!
We also offer a three year
guarantee on all installation, training and support. Now
that's full service...
If you would like us to come
and provide a free introduction to the systems (and
how to use them) to your Technology and PD co-ordinators, or
if you would like to attend one of the regular sessions we run
around Melbourne, please contact us on 1800 00 25
75.
We will also be using
Interactive Whiteboards at many of our activity days, and if
necessary can bring our own portables with us. Feel free to
have interested staff sit in to watch one of our sessions with your
students, and ask questions later.
